Dr. Nura Hawisa completed her undergraduate training in Libya and her pediatric training at McMaster University. Dr. Hawisa has provided inpatient and outpatient consultations for the Child Advocacy & Assessment Program (CAAP) at McMaster Children’s Hospital for four years in addition to providing medical consultations to Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Unit.
Dr. Kristen Hallett completed her undergraduate training in Pharmacy at the University Of Toronto and Medical School and Pediatric Training at McMaster University. Dr. Hallett obtained a Masters in Health Law from York University Osgoode Hall.
Dr. Hallett also works in the general and complex care pediatric units and in the emergency department at McMaster Children’s Hospital. Academic interests include medical education, dermatology, child welfare, developmental concerns, obesity and legal aspects of medicine.
Dr. Penny Thompson completed a BA and MA in Anthropology, and her medical degree at McMaster University, with Pediatric training at McMaster and University of Toronto. She returned to McMaster to complete a Neonatal Fellowship, following which she joined the Department of Pediatrics as staff Neonatologist, covering both the NICU and Neonatal follow-up clinic.
Her interest in medical education led to a period of international work, and upon her return she served as Academic Director in the Physician Assistant Education Program at McMaster, enhancing pediatric curriculum and introducing simulations. Clinically she contributed to pediatric care in the division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, and in the Hamilton community. She is Associate Clinical Professor at McMaster with academic interests in infant and toddler development, adolescent issues, and undergraduate medical education.
